2018 Chardonnay
Origin: Atlas Peak District, Napa Valley, Antinori Napa Valley Family Estate, five clone block
Alcohol: 14.2%
Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Production: 50 cases
Vineyard: Chardonnay grapes are from the Reserve vineyard, ten acres in size. The vineyard is planted at an elevation of 1420 feet, in the volcanic soil series Aiken Loam. It is planted at a vine density of 1815 vines per acre and divided equally among five distinct Chardonnay clones that contribute to the wine's complexity through the clonal diversity. Clones Dijon 96, Dijon 76 and Weimer Burgundian Selection provide for the complexity in flavors while clones Prosser 15 and Martini 4 provide the natural acidity that brings balance and a mineral character to the wine.
Tasting notes: Beautifully fragranced and stimulating, this classy Chardonnay beckons you into the glass. Delectable layers of lemon-splashed Honeycrisp apples, brioche, mineral tones and well-integrated oak unfold gracefully on the palate. Subtle hints of tropical fruit and toasted marshmallows add complexity. Pure, finely structured and polished through the mouthwatering finish. - Ellen Landis, CS, CSW
